I'm looking forward to speaking at the ATD Sacramento Learning Conference on November 4, 2025. https://www.tdsac.org/event-6227232. This is a new presentation for me to deliver. I've really enjoyed digging deep to learn more about accessibility laws and compliance. I knew the importance of it as a graphic designer early in my career, but when I became an instructional designer, it became more than important, it became necessary.

Visual Design for Accessibility in Learning

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify key accessibility principles (such as color contrast, typography, and layout) that improve readability and comprehension in learning materials.

  2. Explain how accessible visual design supports diverse learners, including those with visual, cognitive, or learning differences.

  3. Evaluate existing learning materials to detect common visual design barriers that limit accessibility.

  4. Apply practical design strategies (e.g., use of white space, iconography, alternative text) to create more inclusive digital and print learning experiences.
