Perspective - Dutch Flower Field
How do artists make things look like they are far away even though they are drawing or painting on a flat surface? They use a technique called perspective. We will be exploring this art technique and playing with complementary colors using oil pastels. Our inspiration are tulip fields.
04
Resistance - Growing Veggies
In nature, we often observe parts of a greater whole. This art project prompts students to consider what lies beneath the surface. Our composition will follow the rule of thirds. We will be examining how crayons can resist watercolors and create a barrier between them.

05
Reflections in Nature
If someone looks into a puddle, their reflection will appear blurred around the edges. To recreate this effect, we will use two different mediums. Colored pencils will be used to draw a crisp image of a tree, while watercolors will be used to create a soft reflection that looks like it's on the edge of a lake.

Henri Matisse
French artist Henri Matisse, born in 1869, evolved his style over time while maintaining his love for bright colors and simple shapes. In this activity, we will create a fish bowl inspired by Matisse using acrylic paints. We will mix paints to create new colors.
