01 - Claude Monet

Inspired by the famous lily pad paintings by Impressionist Claude Monet, we will explore shapes and variety and practice different techniques of coloring with crayons.

02

The distinct movement of color and line from Van Gogh's Starry Night, combined with his paintings of French Cafe's sparked this oil pastel piece. We will explore shading and color in motion.

03 - Robert Wyland

In this tribute to Wyland, a wildlife artist whose work has raised awareness of ocean conservation worldwide, we will create a watercolor of a sea turtle, a perfect way to capture a beautiful underwater scene. To add to the fun, we'll sprinkle salt on the wet watercolor paper and watch the chemical reaction create bursts of color.

Playing with camouflage, Bev Doolittle is masterful at hiding symbols and messages in her paintings. She encourages viewers to look beyond what is in front of them and enjoy the fun of discovery. This project is about using patterns and colors to hide a butterfly.

05 - Aboriginal Dot Painting

Our painting is inspired by Australian Aboriginal acrylic dot painting. A technique that gained traction in 1972. We will focus on simple circles painted with dotted patterns. It is important to create enough contrast between the background color and dot so it shows up.
